DR PAUL GASTIN is Professor and Head of Sport and Exercise Science in the School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport at La Trobe University, Australia. Paul is on the Executive of La Trobe’s Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre and was previously Co-Director of the Centre for Sport Research at Deakin University, Australia.

Paul’s teaching and research focuses on innovation in sport science and coaching to enhance the performance of people and organisations across the sport participation spectrum. His work is multidisciplinary and incorporates athlete monitoring, performance management and sport system development.

He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and industry reports and attracted over A $1.6 million in external research funding. In addition to his work in academia, Paul has worked in Olympic/Paralympic and professional sport in Australia and the United Kingdom. Paul has consulted to high performance sport organisations and technology companies in Australia, Europe and Asia, and has self-published an athlete performance management system.
