DR RICARDO COSTA has been based at Monash University – Australia, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics since 2013. He lectures, researches, supervises, consults and practices in the areas of clinical nutrition & dietetics, exercise physiology/biochemistry, sport & exercise dietetics and nutrition, and research methods.
Dr Costa is a reviewer for 10 leading medicine, science, sports nutrition and physiology journals and is an expert Dietetics & Nutrition consultant for BBC (UK), ABC (Australia) and The Age (Melbourne). Before joining Monash University, Dr Costa was appointed as lecturer, researcher, and course director at Coventry University – United Kingdom for nearly 5 years. He completed a PhD in neuroendocrine and nutritional immunology at University of Wales-Bangor in 2009 while still active as a Community Dietitian for the Wirral NHS PCT- UK.
Prior to qualifying as a HCPC registered Dietitian, his activities included Fitness & Exercise Nutritional Co-ordinator for Holmes Place Health Clubs Exploracier Ltd, Portugal, and Sports Nutritionist for the Portuguese National Institute of Sport (Portuguese Triathlon Federation). In addition to these activities, he was also a professional / semi-professional Triathlete / Duathlete competing on the World and European circuit since 1994, retiring for professional competition in 2003 to focus on academia.
